Fractious Cats, Rampaging Figments, & THE QUEEN IS COMING

Some days you're the calm, cool, collected vet tech, other days you're the fractious cat:

Admit it, you needed this laugh today. :p

*****

And for the days you like to imagine yourself gleefully stomping buildings:

One little spark
Of devastation
Is the fun part
Of imagining burning it all down because COME ON 2020 CAN'T WE SKIP HURRICANE SEASON JUST THIS ONCE? ...Please?

;)

****

I've had so many of you recommend the new She-Rah to me that I immediately thought of y'all when I spotted Sami Bess' cosplay:

She also does an incredible Xena!
Give her a follow for more.

*****

I've been following Sky since she made her jaw-dropping Spaceship Earth dress, and she just unveiled her latest Disney park icon:

Sorcerer Mickey's hat from Hollywood Studios! Hit the link to browse her IG, she has dress versions of the Tree of Life, Haunted Mansion, and more.

****

You ever watch some of these slick craft videos and think, "Well THAT'S obviously witchcraft"? That's me with this tiny teddy bear:

I need a young priest, an old priest, and a thin brown washcloth.

****

Over on Weird Secondhand Finds, Joan Rogers had her hubby give this pretty rotary phone a brilliant upgrade:

"See the light where the phone meets the sky? IT CALLS ME"

(This is what happens when you love puns and Disney songs just a little too much.)

Joan's hubby harvested the gooseneck from an old lamp, and used small LEDs they bought on Amazon. Go see Joan's original post for more pics and details - 'cuz I'm not the only one who wants to do this now, right?

*****

I've watched this next video multiple times, and it never gets old. Prepare for the best 3 minutes of your day:

Some of the best ones are near the end, so be sure to watch the whole thing. :D

(The quote is from The Princess Diaries, btw, in case you're like me and didn't remember that part.)

*****
LEGO fans, have you seen this?

LEGO just released a retro NES kit, and when you turn the crank on the TV the screen scrolls and Mario jumps and the music plays and ermergersh this is so cute. Check out all the details on the LEGO website.

And finally, I'm going to inflict an ancient earworm on you, because this blast from the past makes me laugh. Do any of you remember the group Rockapella from the 90's kids' game show Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?

Oh yeah, we're going on a DEEP DIVE today. Buckle up.

Well, I recently fell down a small rabbit hole looking up Rockapella albums, and long story short(er), this is one of the few songs I could find on Youtube with the original members from the 1990's. It's SUPER catchy while also being cringy in a ridiculous way, which is a combo I think we can all appreciate:

(NOTE TO PARENTS: The song contains the word "damn")

Omigosh, the hair, the matching leather jackets... so much early 90s goodness here.

.... You're judging me for liking this, aren't you. I can feel it from here. LOL

And on that note, have a wonderful rest of your weekend, gang. If you want to return the favor and link me to your favorite old ridiculous earworms, fire away in the comments. The sillier, the better!

  2. My spouse and I own a cd of music from the original Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, which includes that song. And thankfully ripped it to mp3, cause who knows where the cd actually is. I think I have many of those songs memorized still...

  4. Zombie Jamboree is a long time fave - it's on my walking playlist and never fails to make me smile!

  5. That cat video gets me every time. I can't imagine how they made it through some of the instructions LOL Also, what on earth even is that Rockapella song??? "Let's sing the chorus!" You mean what you've been singing for the last 3 minutes??? I do enjoy the one Christmas album they put out, though; that's on my ipod every year :)

  6. So many crazy songs to choose from but here's my vote:
Life is a Rock (but the radio rolled me)
You're welcome. :) Also, look up anything from the Dr. Demento show or the Funnybone Favorites album for a laugh and a hit of nostalgia.

    1. Me, too!

I dressed as Carmen Sandiego for Halloween a few years ago and performed the song.

  10. Ahhh!!!!! Thank you for finding the zombie jamboree song! I randomly sing it, having remembered it from my childhood, and I think my wife thought I was making it up. :D

This was the earworm I woke up with the other day. You're welcome.

  12. I used to work for a vet and adore the video. I'm also a big WITWICS? and Rockapella fan. Thank you for brightening my day!

  13. I'm familiar with the Kingston Trio version of Zombie Jamboree, but it was fun to see & hear a different one. Here's the Kingston Trio's version- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap_M-qKJhn0. Also, this song was stuck in my head the other day & I finally figured out what is was called. If it doesn't make you get up and dance (or at least seat-dance), then I just can't help you. 14. I can't stop singing and spitting and singing to this song:

You can try to just watch it once, but you'll be beck.

  15. Haha, that version of Zombie Jamboree is one of our core songs in the a capella choir we're in. (Well, were in, and will be in again, someday.) I prefer the versions done by singers/groups with ties to Caribbean culture/calypso music, but it's fun either way.

  16. How cute would that bear be as a way to 'wrap' baby washcloths in a baby basket/diaper cake!

  17. I love Rockapella. :D

Had to watch the video multiple times to figure out the legs but I'm happy because I made the teddy bear. I just have to play with the proportions a bit (and get a brown towel).

  18. Having been a vet tech 30 years ago, I was a bit worried about what the video would show (I still have scars). I should have known you would show something very silly and hilarious! 😂 Thanks for the laugh!

  19. Never laughed so hard at a cat video before. LOVE the sounds the "cat" made. But who had to clean up the room?

  20. Ahhhh!!! I'm so exciting to be a winner!! Thank you so much! What a great way to start the week :)

  21. That She-Ra is jaw-dropping! And WOW, I love that Sorcerer's Hat dress!

  22. Barry! Sean! Elliott! Oh my, a lovely walk down memory lane! I’ve seen Rockapella in concert several times. Love them still. Thx for the video!!

  23. D'aw .... The kittehs-!

And I grew up listening (and dancing to) the Kingston Trio.

    "Back-to-back, belly-to-belly..."

    Thanks!

  24. Rockapella is one of my favorites! I have seen them in concert like 5 times! Its always good. They only have 1 original member left now!

  25. Forgot to say that I really love the Sorcerer's Hat!

  26. I have a butt ton of Rockapella import tracks from when you used to need to order them from Japan. I loved them for a long time but they're a bit too boy-band-esque for my tastes now.

  27. Oohhhhhh it warmed my heart to see Zombie Jamboree!! Our weird high school music teacher insisted that we learn this in our vocal jazz club, we all found it SO embarrassing! One day he showed us the video, and we couldn't believe that A) it was Rockapella from Carmen Sandiego and B) Spike Lee seemed somehow involved in this video clip. (This is just part of it, you can probably find the full version where Rockapella and another a capella group seem to be engaging in an a capella contest...)
