Angler Fish Brooches, Potion Bottle Sun Catchers, & The Dark Crystal Bestiary

This month has been kind of a rocky start for 2021, so I don't know about you, but I'm ready for some HAPPY STUFF.

Lucky for us, I happen to have some happy stuff... right here:

Awww yeah.

Melissa Blair's stye hits all the right notes for me: bright bold colors, cute characters, plenty of cats...

It's just SO GOOD.

Check out Melissa's Etsy Shop for prints, stickers, and note cards, and of course follow her on IG to see all the adorable holiday stuff she's done the past few months, because ermergersh.

*****

Some days you just have to stop and appreciate a good angler fish brooch, you know?

OH LOOK, I found one!

This beauty by Kweena Kreations even lights up:

I... I love her.

Follow Catriona on Facebook for more cool creations like these:

*****

Bu2Ma is an illustrator who reeeeeeally loves tigers:

And I am here for it.

Tiger loaf!! EEEEE!

These are so cute, omigosh. Go browse his Etsy shop for prints and phone cases, and be sure to follow him on IG for more adorableness.

*****

For those of you who celebrate Halloween year-round (I SEE YOU), or who just appreciate that gorgeous goth aesthetic, behold the lacy embroidery art of Stitches of Anarchy:

OoooOOoh

I think this skull is my favorite:

Although the snake is the most translucent and lacy - almost reminds me of an X-ray:

Head to the Stitches of Anarchy Etsy shop to see loads more, including lots of great quotes and irreverent/inspirational sayings.

*****

I found Iris Compiet recently when she shared some of her art in my Labyrinth fan group:

She paints and sculpts the most incredible fantasy creatures:

If you're picking up a Brian Froud/Labyrinth/Dark Crystal vibe here, there's a good reason:

Iris is the official licensed illustrator for the newest Dark Crystal art book! OMIGOSH!!

Plus her web store is the stuff of dreams, from resin sculptures to stickers to the prettiest bookmarks I think I've ever seen:

Go browse the rest here, and my condolences to your bank account, haha.

*****

You know, I never thought I could fall madly in love with a suncatcher, yet here we are:

Margay & Binturong's handmade potion bottles are pure magic - and they're only the beginning:

::SWOON::

::QUADRUPLE SWOON::

Follow them on Instagram for mesmerizing videos of all those sparkles in action, and also check out their Etsy shop to see the rest of their designs - including tons of jewelry!

K, gang, now let's see if I can make the tiniest dent in my overflowing art cache by GIVING SOME AWAY.  Woot woot! I had a lot of fun picking these out for you, decided to go with a fantasy creature theme:

First, an 8X10 signed print set by our very own Bianca Roman-Stumpff.

Next, a fantastical coloring book - with 2 extra prints - by the amazing Jessica Feinberg:

Mostly dragons, but there's an occasional phoenix or unicorn in here, too, and they're all sooo gooood.

And finally, a LE signed print by another of our own, Bri Pi Art:

Plus a mini print by Stanley Morrison, because I like the way they look together. :)

Now the hard part: you must choose! That's right, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE. So tell me in the comments which of these three sets you like best, and I'll chose three of you at random to send them to. Internationals welcome, provided you're willing to wait for our postal system to get it to you, heh.

UPDATE: The give-away has ended!

The winner of the dragon coloring book is Lydia
The winner of the Ursula print set is WordWitch
And the winner of the Bianca print set is Elencello

Congrats, you three, and please e-mail me your mailing addresses!

  1. Ngh ... how to choose? If I was lucky enough, I would go for the Stanley Morrison and Bri Pi Art combo, because then I could gift one to my daughter, and one to my daughter-in-law - and I know they would both flip for them! Thanks for some loveliness and cuteness to help kickstart my Thursday :)

  2. Bianca's art work please! Love reading this and Cakewrecks. Both make my day

  3. Oh my goodness, they are all beautiful, but I think I'll have to go with Bianca's to add to my collection of her prints! And I'm in love with Melissa Blair's art now, thank you for sharing with us. ❤

  4. Er Ma Gosh!! You make it SO HARD!! However, while I love all of these (and everything you've been doing to try and keep things light), I'd have to pick Bianca's prints. I just love her stuff and it's so fun to see what she's up to on Instagram!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ohhhhhhhhmygosh those ..."suncatchers"??? Are so cool. I'd never heard of suncatchers before! Thanks for sharing and brightening my day! ^_^

  6. I love the fantasy creatures set so very much. The kids I nanny for would probably be obsessed with it, too. It would be so neat to color it with them!!

  7. Oooh, the set with the little dragon (my last name begins with H) and Ursula (she's gorgeous) are the dreamiest. Please enter me in the drawing for those. And thanks for the goth embroidery link to stiches of anarchy. I think I've found my daughter's next birthday present. She loves that esthetic.

  8. Oh they are all so pretty, but the first on with the prints by Bianca Roman-Stumpff is amazingly good

    ReplyDelete
  9. That Ursula print is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Long time lurker here...I came over from Cakewrecks several years ago. Love reading your posts! I would love the coloring book!

    Take care

  11. How DARE you! You impress me with all this drool-worthy art, then tempt me further with a generous art giveaway, and then make me CHOOSE between the incredible options?!?

If I MUST choose, I'd like the Bianca prints as I've been mesmerized by her work for quite some time and would love to call them my own (plus that owl is giving me serious owlbear vibes and I'm HERE for it!). I'd be happy with any, but most of all I'm thankful for YOU for bringing this dose of art happiness to my day. :hugs:

  14. It's griffin/narwhal for me. 100% adorable!

  15. I like the coloring book :) Thanks for having a giveaway! And also for sharing art - I always enjoy looking at everyone's shops :)

  16. Thank you for the delightful shiny things to look at!

But you weren't kidding about the hard part, whew! I think the coloring book edges the others out, however, because of wall space... or rather, a shortage thereof.

  17. I like the first set best. The animals just make me happy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Put me in the running for the Bianca Roman-Stumpff set, please!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thank you for the eye candy! I choose Fantastical coloring book creatures, please. = )

    ReplyDelete
  20. The griffin! My kiddo's favorite fantasy creature and we both love the cute.

Also, thank you for your curation so I don't get lost down the rabbit hole! I love these posts.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank you for sharing all the pretties! The art is all amazing and the stitches of anarchy was a nice surprise. Love the beadwork and that fish is just amazing! It would be fun to see him in stores here, next to all the hand-made Native American beading! I don't want to enter the contest - I was lucky enough to win the zombie finger button pusher last year, so I'm good for awhile. Thanks for the sunshine!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh wow. I've been reading your blog for a long, long time (love your building and crafting posts, especially!), lurking in the shadows... but that Ursula-like print by Bri Pi Art is too amazing not to comment.
Thank you for all that you do, and lots of love from a psychotherapist-in-training - you're doing great, you're doing the work, and things will get better and better!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'd like to be in the pool for Bianca's prints. So cute!

And thank you for the pointers to other artists....I've got them bookmarked so I can go drool later!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, those precious fantasy creatures! That griffin is so adorable, I just want to hug it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Definitely the coloring book, because dragons!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Okay, the world absolutely needs more tiny gryphons. There should be a whole series about them like the old Pocket Dragon Tales. The could disguise themselves as small birds or rodent when people come by.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That coloring book is so cool! Perfect for someone who can't draw but wants to feel like they can

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ahhhhh so hard to choose, but I have to go with Ursula and the seahorse. So gorgeous!

Also, the lace art? Incredible, wow!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'd choose the coloring book, as my best friend is into coloring books and this looks like a good one!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Egad, choose?? Well, narwhals and griffins are two of my favorite fantastical creatures (LOL), so I'd have to choose Bianca's prints. But the coloring book and other prints are also delightful. Now to go peruse some of the shops (those suncatchers, gah!). Thanks for sharing all the fun and beautiful art.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just FYI, those are Urban Threads embroidery designs. They make really fun designs for machine and hand embroidery if people want to make the designs themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh! I love that coloring book! Mostly dragons is just right for me!

    ReplyDelete
  33. DRAGONS! Love it! Fantastical coloring, come my way!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The angler fish is the most amazing thing I'v ever seen! Wow!!

And that is such a tough choice!! But having to pick only one, it will be the set from Bianca. So cute! <3

    ReplyDelete
  35. The dragons for sure. How could I say no to a dragon reading a book?
If I do get lucky, I'll have to wait forever because I reckon the postal system here is even worse than yours.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bianca's griffin is too cute!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would love to win the colouring book to fill a bit of time after being in hospital recently.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I just love the narwhal, so i definitively would go for the first one! (as a child, i always thought, narwhals weren't real and the adults were having fun with me trying to convince me they were. i mean, unicorn are not real, and narwhals are basically the unicorns of the sea, so they could not be real either! It took me a long while to accept their existence :-D )

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Bianca Roman-Stumpff prints are too adorable!! I'd choose them. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would love the coloring book set! It would make the most perfect Valentine's gift for my dnd-obsessed husband. He also collects resin dragon figurines, so it really is perfect for him!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love the little Gryphon/Narwhal set.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the bri pi art/stanley morrison the most, but they are all awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ahhh such beautiful work! I look forward to your art showcases every month, and my Inta roll grows every time. My fav has to be Bri Pi Art.

    ReplyDelete
  44. First of all: ENCHANTED TIKI ROOM!!! Must acquire immediately!!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Secondly, I love the Fantastical coloring book and believe it would make an excellent addition to my collection 😁

    ReplyDelete
  45. OH!!! Bianca's work is so precious. I choose those!

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Bri Pi art with the mini is my favorite of these! So pretty

  49. I've followed this blog, plus Cake Wrecks, for year and stayed quiet, but the Ursula and seahorse prints are so gorgeous. I would love to hang them in my office given the chance. Now that I'm working from home full time I'm trying to fill my space with thing I love to look at :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love the Bri Pi with the Morrison!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ermagersh, trying to pick between those is horribly difficult! But I have to listen to my heart, which skipped a beat when I saw that Bri Pi print.

    ReplyDelete
  52. That tiny wee griffin in the strawberries tugs my heartstrings something fierce <3

    ReplyDelete
  55. SO much beautiful new art and creations!! Ahhh, love them all - especially Halloween Year Round ^_^ Thanks for sharing it all! And choosing for the giveaway.... so hard! We're a big dragon house, but my girls also love narwhals and cutesy animals. After consulting with my 11 year old, we are entering the Bianca Art giveaway =)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ohhhh, that rain cloud suncatcher is divine! Checking out that shop ASAP. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have definitely found myself in the mood for the bright happy things lately! I would love to win the set of Bianca's prints!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Love the 3rd set. I love finding art prints and then putting them in cute vintage frames that i got at thrift stores and yard sales. Great items, really makes it hard to choose. Thanks for the post!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I LOVE the prints by Bianca Roman Stumpff!

    ReplyDelete
  60. OK, I love them all, but I think I'd have to go with Biancas. But that little seahorse is CALLING MY NAME.

Also those suncatchers. Amazing. I am officially saving to buy one, because I need that in my life.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Was so tickled to see you discovering Iris Compiet. I sent her a link to this page, she is really a wonderful person.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm torn between the adorable griffin and the coloring book.

And, oh em gee, those suncatchers are fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Choice is soooo hard! But in the hope that Tosho-con (or at least Yule Ball) will live again, I pick the coloring book.

And Iris Compiet is amazeballs. I want to be her when I grow up.

Speaking of cool art, have you seen the Ukiyo Hero wood block prints? They're sooooo pretty and fun. One of my favorites is the One Piece Shore Leave.

  65. Oooo-the set by Bianca Roman-Stumpff gives me heart eyes!

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Bianca Roman-Stumpff prints are AMAZING! I need to remember her the next time I am looking for a new wall hanging.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I really really like the Bianca prints. So much so that I went to browse her site—and realized I already own five of her prints from our local Comicon a few years ago! So naturally I need all of them. 😁

    ReplyDelete
  68. Coloring book please! They are all incredible but I have a particular fondness for the dragons.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Love them all! But I’d probably go with Stanley Morrison because I have tons of Bianca art already, even though those are both adorable :D

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm with you on the suncatchers. They've never really appealed to me - until today! I foresee gifts for friends (and ME!) coming from there.

As for the giveaway, if I'm so lucky, I'm all over the coloring book! It's magnificent!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love, love, love the pair by Bianca. And I would quickly become my niece's favorite if I gifted them to her. Thank you for the rays of sunshine Jen!

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would love to win the Bianca set with the narwhal, please! They’re all so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'd love to have Ursula to hang with my mermaid art!

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's all great art, but the narwal has stolen my heart. It's so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  89. The colouring book looks wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh MY!!!! The First 2 sets are both AMAZING!!!! It's so hard to pick just one!! I think knowing me I'd better go for the first set of Fantasy animals!!! I'd love the Dragons but never work up the courage to color them so they would never make it on display!! I finally have a space all my own and I'm slowly adding my favorite things to it and these look so much like art I tried to make when I was a much younger person!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Okay, tough choice, but I have to go with the dragons! Love this month's finds!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I love the last set! Bri Pi Art, please!

    ReplyDelete
  93. WHAT A HARD CHOICE! But (after MUCH agonizing!) I choose the Dragons! And their fantastic friends. And, as always, thank you for brightening my world!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Bri Pi and Morrison set. They are lovely together.

    ReplyDelete
  95. That first set. Owlbears are the cutest! And the narwhal using its horn as the most adorable skewer ever? Yes, please!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I would love the coloring book for my little niblings!! <3

    ReplyDelete
  97. Oooh, soooo cute! My favourite is the little narwhal with the kebab on his horn... absolutely adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I recommend zillowgonewild on Instagram. Maybe it's because there's an architect in the family, but it puts a smile on my face every time!
