Star Wars Smiles

This Friday, December 10th, is Wear & Share Star Wars day! As you guys probably already know, this is in honor of Star Wars Katie and her über cool water bottle. So, break out your Star Wars t-shirts, backpacks, earrings, or what-have-you, and rock 'em with pride this Friday! Also don't forget to donate a Star Wars toys (or other geeky toy, if you'd prefer) to your local shelter, hospital, or Toys For Tots charity.

And to get you in the Star Wars mood, here's some stuff to make you grin.

First, some rockin' art sent in by Daya:

Yep. This rocks.

This was a Star Wars Fan Club exclusive by Hugh Fleming all the way back in 1998. Happily, you can still snag the poster for less than six bucks on Amazon, though, and I even spotted it on a few t-shirts on Ebay. So... I think I'm gonna have to buy one of those.

Another oldie but goodie: Steampunk R2D2

By DeviantArt user amoebabloke

Ah, but it gets even better: have you seen the updated version?

[drool] LOVE the improvements on R2's noggin'!

If you haven't seen the adorable Alphabet Star Wars prints by new parents Emma and Brandon Peat already this week, I'll just assume you've been living off grid in the wild somewhere. Still, for you campers, here 'tis:

Vader is my favorite. :) Click here to see the rest of the set.

Oh, and here's a time-sensitive deal: the Peats are offering a printed book of their entire alphabet set for $15 here - but you have to order it by midnight, tonight! So, you know, hurry up.

While I was researching the links for that set, I stumbled across another adorable Star Wars alphabet - this one done Chibi style:

D'awwww. See the whole set here on artist Joe Wight's DeviantArt gallery.

And finally, I have a little something to give away: a Star Wars Christmas t-shirt!

The give-away has ended. Winner announced below!

This is the Teefury design "Hothmas." I bought it last year, but it didn't fit. So, yes, you *could* see this as me just giving away my clothing cast-offs. Or you could see it as a generous act from a benevolent blogger just looking to make your Star Wars Christmas a little more Hothy. [grin]

The shirt is a girl's XL, but I discovered that Teefury shirts not only run small, they're also long and skinny (as you can see on the model, the printed design falls below the waist). So, if you're long and skinny and wear about a juniors' size L, this is the shirt for you! If you want it, leave a comment on this post by midnight tonight. I'll announce the winner here and on FB then, so be sure to check back.

Happy commenting, and MTFBWY!

UPDATE: And the winner is....Brilliantpants!! (I trust there's only *one* commenter out there with that name?) Congrats, and please e-mail me your mailing address, Brill.

  2. I suffered the same fate with a Beaker T-Shirt from Disney. Apparently my being a regular "Large" is Disney speak for MUTANT SIZE. Therefore I looked like a sausage in a Beaker shirt. Sadly, I had to return it! :(

  3. Hoth is our favorite location from Star Wars! My hubby plays it on Star Wars Battlefront II over and over and over and over....

  20. Well, I made my impulsive purchase for the day! One Star Wars alphabet book for my non-existant-one-day-will-come child. Yay!!
And I'm super excited to wear my Star Wars shirt to work (under my work clothes). I'll totally do it too!
Mark me down for the Hothmas shirt!! Please. :)

  21. What a fun giveaway! I would love to win this tee! I am a fan of the first 3 Star Wars movies (the originals ... before computer graphics) and ran around my neighborhood as Princess Leia. And a couple of Halloweens ago, my husband dressed up as "Ghetto Leia" where he wore this awesome afro-inspired wig with the Princess Leia white costume!

  22. I want to start off by saying that I love your blogs! After stumbling upon Cake Wrecks while super bored at work I subsequently spent days going back through older posts and laughing hysterically :) Epbot is now my favorite. I love all the fun links that you post and the neat projects that you show (someday, I too want to have a penny desk).

    Also, I LOVE that shirt!!

  29. I'm the exact opposite of long & skinny, wahh! What about the "cuddly" fans?

    ReplyDelete
  30. That is a super cute shirt! I'd have to order it in triple X though - lol.

LOL @ Black Tee, I felt the same way in an Eeyore shirt from Disney Store.

Thanks for sharing the alphabet Star Wars, a great gift idea!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oooh, me! Me! Me!

I wish sizes were standard. I wear large in just about everything -- except yoga pants which I seem to wear a small for several Target manufacturers. I am not small, people -- and I really hope actual small people don't want yoga pants, because I think they'll have to shop in the kids department. Do they make yoga pants for kids?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I LOVE that shirt! What adorable SW goodies! :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love the shirt! I come from a Star Wars family and my hubby comes from a Star Trek family (though we have blended our family traditions nicely). I'm always looking for some good Star Wars gear. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. It would be an honor and privilege to benefit from your kind generosity and Rock the "Hoffmas" shirt not only this Christmas but year round! Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Love everything that you are doing for Katie! Not only will I be sporting Star Wars on Friday, but all my ringtones/texttones (is that a word? It is now! Lol) will be Star Wars related :-D I'd love a new SW shirt to add to my wardrobe <3

    ReplyDelete
  36. Throw my name in the draw, please! Though this could maybe be a leg warmer for me, my super-Star Wars-obsessed, super-cute n skinny friend would love this! Sorry it didn't fit you, I hate when that happens! Woot ladies shirts fit small too. Knowing this, I ordered a ladies medium for the same skinny friend who wears a small quite comfortably, but what I got looked more like a child's medium, and after the first wash, forget it!

    ReplyDelete
  37. It would be an honor and privilege to benefit from your kind generosity and Rock the "Hoffmas" shirt not only this Christmas but year round! Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Uhm...Comment commment comment.

    There!

    *big grin*

I don't have any good reason for why I should get the shirt. I just LOVE longer tshirts, and this is something i could even wear to work.
    (geekiness is encouraged)

    ReplyDelete
  42. That shirt is AWESOME! :D Thanks, Jen!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ah, so much StarWars goodness in one spot! And a great shirt too; bummer that it didn't fit you. Why is it so hard to make women's clothes in the same sizes across the board? I think the Empire is behind it....

    ReplyDelete
  44. Add my name to the hat please!

    ReplyDelete
  45. That shirt is amazing. I may actually participate in the whole "Christmas spirit" thing if I could geek out with my Wars on.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oooh, Hothmas!! Want the shirt! Love it! Definitely loved watching Star Wars all the time for the first, oh decade and a bit of my life! And a special treat any time now!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I REALLY don't comment here often enough, or Cake Wrecks for that matter. Your two websites always give me a smile, even when I'm in a bad mood. Thank you for that! I LOVE the tshirt! I'm trying to introduce my daughter to all the geeky stuff I grew up with and loved and this tshirt would be an awesome way to do it. I've already got her wearing an Animal (from the Muppets) tshirt to bed. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. i love Katie's story, and would love the tshirt :) the alphabet was really cool too!! :) time for another SW marathon soon I think...hmmm... :)

  50. Squee that shirt is CUTE!!! Alas, I'm nowhere near a Juniors size anything :( Where oh where can I find one for girls with large, um, Tattooine Moons?

And if I had a spare fifteen dollars fall out of the sky, I'd get that Alphabet book in a HEARTBEAT for my son, who is still learning the ways of the Force... and his ABC's.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Pick me! Pick me! That would make an awesome holiday present! I can't wait to wear my self-crafted storm trooper earring on Friday! :)

  53. Oh my gosh, that shirt is adorable!!! DO WANT! And I so wish that my friends had little babies so I could teach them the alphabet with those cutie-patutie characters.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I want the shirt!!!! I don't care if it's too big, I WANT IT. I'm not a big fan of Star Wars, but I've decided to give it a try. The reason I don't like is because my brother likes it so I don't want to, but a while ago, I didn't like Harry Potter because my brother did, but now I love it! I'm thinking that I really would like it if I gave it a chance.

    -Sarah, age 10 :)

  62. please. this is the only one of the contests (though i think i've entered them all) that i've really, really, wanted to win. Does it help if i tell you that i'm a professional grant writer that has star wars potato heads on my desk? (artoo-potatoo and the spud-trooper). or that i own an r2-d2 cooler i can fit in and once dressed up as princess leia jumping in and out of it saying "help me obi-wan kenobi you're my only hope" for halloween. please. :OD

    ReplyDelete
  63. Aww, man! I'd really love the shirt, but I'm afraid "long and skinny" doesn't cut it - I'm only 4'11 1/2", and I'd need a regular XL! :P

    ReplyDelete
  64. I want this shirt! My husband doesn't believe that I've seen Star Wars, and I think this might prove it. I also buy more of my clothes than I care to admit in the children's department. My family teases me, but I don't think I'd get any guff for this shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This shirt is Adorable = must have! Thanks for sharing the info on the Star Wars Alphabet book too! I must get that for my little Jelly Bean!

  80. It would fit me perfect and look so cute

    ReplyDelete
  81. Aghhh!! I'm tall & slim-ish. ;) I also happen to have a slightly Star Wars Obsessed three year old (who is currently sliding around my kitchen floor while trying to get his Darth Maul figure to successfully twirl his double light saber). I would love this precious shirt. My son only recently allowed me to put on Empire Strikes back (instead of Jedi) & Hoth is his new favorite planet. He would request that I wear this shirt every day! Ha!
On another note, I absolutely love both of your blogs. Your sense of humor is right on target & it always makes me smile. Keep up the good work in all that you do!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I would love the shirt! This post makes me so happy! I ordered the alphabet book for my daughter - she's almost two and LOVES Star Wars. She keeps going over to our Christmas tree and saying hello to our Chewbacca and Vader ornaments!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Squee! Further opportunities to reinforce my reputation as one of the highschool's pure-blooded geeks! No sarcasm whatsoever there. I first firmly established my status as a geek in Middle School when I did a photo essay about simple machines- by taking pictures of myself dressed as Darth Vader, torturing my little brother (who was, of course, dressed as a Padawan) in various creative ways. It's been five or six years, and I still haven't lived that down- and quite frankly, I don't want to. I take PRIDE in that label of geekiness.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I need this shirt! My hubby and I are huge star wars fans. He is in the process of getting his enitre arm tattooed from shoulder to wrist with star wars villains. Now I can't let my geek flag fly like that, but a tee shirt would up my star wars coolness factor! Please please please. And Merry Sithmas to you all!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Awesome shirt! Yay for Star Wars!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Would love the T-shirt for my daughter. It would be a little big for her, but that's OK. She'd sleep in it now and wear it later. She's my Star Wars girl - loves everything about it - even her fish is names Ahsoka!

    ReplyDelete
  98. This would be a perfect shirt for my best friend. Sadly, I am of the large and fluffy variety and wouldn't fit(even if I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to fit into it, but my friend also loves Star Wars and is long and skinny (damn her, I mean... uhh... bless her heart! I'm from the south, it means the same thing... <3) Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. That shirt would make me the most popular person at our family Christmas party.

    ReplyDelete
  100. *raises hand*
You're too entirely awesome to offer this shirt up. Which brings me to my next point.
    Pleasey?

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oops- Correction on my above post- it's been exactly four years since the "Darth Vader's Tour of Simple Machines" incident.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Looking at those pictures of R2 make me think "Mmmmm...Beeeer!"

    ReplyDelete
  103. If I get it in time, I'll wear it Friday to work (even though I'll get in trouble for going to an important meeting in a tee-shirt ;-))

    ReplyDelete
  104. *tonight* Were you being literal?

The shirt would be a great gift for a friend! I'd wear it myself, but I'm due in April with baby #2, so I won't be fitting into any babydolls for awhile. :)

Love the blog, it's caused a lot of late nights. Can't stop playing Pogo mixes, either. My 16 month old loves 'Upular', and so do I.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Love this shirt and I would love to sport it around town this holiday season.
    Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Ummmm....I would love u 4eva Jen if u gave me that shirt. Really. I would. Even tho thats not really possible as I've loved u $eva from the start of this blog :)

  107. As a not-model sized, kind of glumpy, incredibly short waisted (as in, I am 5ft 5in and my sister, who barely squeaks out 4ft 11in is actually taller than me sitting down) person, I've stopped purchasing "women's" cool t-shirts -- go for the men's or unisex, then with just a very quick trip through your sewing machine, shorten the sleeves/shoulder seams and add shaping if you must.

And if you must do some tailoring (or just don't want to sew), but just want to look EVEN COOLER grab your scissors and knotting fingers.
Cut the shirt from hem to armpit. Cut a fringe horizontal with the hem of the shirt, about an inch or two wide (crafter's choice), so you have wide strips from the back of the shirt and the front of the shirt. Last, do some magic and tie all of those segments together for a perfectly shaped not-modelly-but-way-cooler shirt!
This is a pretty good tutorial, but just try as you go.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ooh!! I would love the shirt!! It's soo cute!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Sweet Mary, that is just about the coolest tee I have ever seen. AND I'm tall and skinny so it may fit! I'm also about to go and buy that alpha book - really, I must crawl out from under my rock more often, I miss such cool stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  110. AWWWW! It's so adorable, I never win blog giveaways, so if I won, it would be a very merry Christmas present to me! I don't own much star wars, but I love this shirt.
Send it to the Dark Side, we have cake ;)

    ReplyDelete
  111. Not long and skinny, but I could make it work. :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. As you know, all Jedi aren't just saving their planet, but the whole galaxy. I'd be happy to do my part by recycling your shirt to my wardrobe.
(I'm even more motivated now to go run with a friend on this freezing cold night in an effort to attain better health and a trimmer look.)

    ReplyDelete
  113. Shirt sizes are so warped. Makes you worry about the state of the person they're using as a model.

I'm bookmarking that Star Wars alphabet book. It will be perfect for indoctrinating my future children at a young, young age. I also enjoy the use of Basic. It's a nice touch, and it's always useful for kids to be bilingual in this modern universe.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'd love this shirt! I could wear it when I sing "Baby, It's Hoth Outside." :D

    ReplyDelete
  115. DUDE! today has definitely been a B.A.D. day. with Jen being the blogger I'm appreciating in particular.
So yes. I am in full Jen appreciation mode.
And this shirt would make my life. and probably make a lot happier in general.
    And just love in general.
    AND GO KATIE!!!
and may the force be with you all

    ReplyDelete
  118. Love the Hothmas tee! Sorry the tee didn't fit you - I know how disappointing that can be. But thank you for the giveaway! What a wonderful way to spread Christmas cheer Star Wars-style (the only style that matters, other than Star Trek.)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I would love this shirt for my sister. She is a huge Star Wars fan like me but long and skinny, unlike me.

  132. I would love that shirt! The only down side is it would look dorky after Christmas. :(

  133. That shirt is amazing! I'd love a chance at getting it :D Also, I'm a huge van of the "V is for Vader" in the alphabet..though Jabba is also pretty adorable--which is so impressive!

  134. I would love to give that shirt to my sister who would be small enough to fit in it. We saw Star Wars as kids in the theater, and had a bartender at a pool in Las Vegas spoil a certain death in Return of the Jedi for us... I am still slightly traumatized.

Point is, we like Star Was, she is skinny, I am not, and it would make a lovely gift. =D

  135. I really really really really really want to win this shirt. Like really.

I am afraid that I am slower because I am sick but I can't see the letters in the second alphabet... oops!

  140. Ooooh, me please! Please please please. That shirt is so cute.

I thought of you twice today, once while riding the bus in the morning –it had a big "No Ghost" sticker on the fire extinguisher–, and once when I saw a massive Lego R2-D2 in a store.

  156. Oooh, I may just have to buy the alphabet book for my new baby (almost 4 months), who will be a Star Wars fan whether he likes it or not. Okay, if he doesn't like it I won't force it on him, but I think with the amount of exposure he'll be getting, he WILL like it. And that shirt is awesome!

  170. That shirt! Last year, I had a slightly epic fail and didn't buy it. The force, alas is not strong with me it seems.
My older brother has one in his size, and one of the things we bonded over as kids was our love of Star Wars. (To the extent that we would lob coconuts at each other and try to "use the force" to deflect them. It wasn't a perfect plan.)

Having this shirt would mean wearing it home from college over Christmas break, so that we can have an awesome brother/sister moment.

Though not a Luke/Leia moment, because, dude. That would be weird.
