Tell me this isn't the cutest freakin' thing you've seen all week:
It's not easy to squeal while laughing hysterically, but somehow this painting gifted me with that unique ability. Seriously, I can't look at this without grinning like an idiot. I love it.
And why is it that Star Wars gets the best fan art, anyway? Not that I'm complaining TOO much, but just once, I'd like to see a chibi Andorian baby with a Tribble in one hand and a tricorder in the other. Right? C'mon, artists, that would be EPIC.
In the mean time, though, I'll just soak up goodies like this:
By Greg Peltz, who has more Victorian-styled Star Wars characters on his blog.
Awesomeness. I'm hoping, with all my might, that Peltz does a matching R2 portrait.

And speaking of Star Wars art, I can't wait to peruse the artist alley at Star Wars Celebration V, which will be here in Orlando next month. Katie Cook will be there, and she draws adorableness like this:
I'm also looking forward to seeing Jon Stewart interview George Lucas; that should be...entertaining. Mostly, though, I look forward to the costume photo safari. [rubbing hands together] Oooh, I LOVE taking convention photos! Here's hoping I just don't make too much of an idiot of myself by asking, "And who are *you* supposed to be?" Heh. Yeah, I'm not as good with Star Wars as I am with Trek; I've never seen any of the animated stuff. [ducks to avoid hurled tomatoes] I'm sorry! I'm sorry!
So, are any of you going to be there? Holla back if so! And if not, don't worry; I'll be posting updates and pics here when the time comes. Then the rest of you can help me ID who all the characters are. :)

~Please remain calm. Kat is unable to leave a comment at the moment due to the fact that her head as just exploded from the cute...have a nice day.~
ReplyDelete*squeeeeeee* So cute!
ReplyDelete(darn, 2nd time I've giggled with delight today. The first time was for a parasite in poo that was swimming. so pretty)
how funny, my 17 yr old just did a Star Wars Weekend this past weekend where he watched all 6 movies back to back!
ReplyDelete"...but someone this painting gifted me with that unique ability"
ReplyDeleteWas I the only one confused by this? And yay cute, but how much cuter would it be if Chewy was nursing? Aw....
We aren't going to that one. But there is a display at the Huntsville, AL space camp museum. It's costumes, a virtual ride of the Falcon, and all sorts of cool things.
ReplyDeleteoh...my...god. WANT those victorian paintings. I understand why he doesn't want to sell them but but but WANT.

ReplyDeleteI think the C3Po and R2D2, especially, are pretty awesome.
Aaaawwwwweeee! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteBoops. That's what happens when Jen writes at 3:00 am and doesn't let me proofread.

Attending this convention is on my bucket list. We currently have no money, but it is on the list and will be done... eventually. Have fun and be sure to come back and post a bazillion pictures!
ReplyDeleteI agree Karen - I WANT those paintings! They're the perfect thing to mesh my decor with my Star Wars collectibles!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, my heart has exploded from all the cuteness in that first painting. I hope you're proud of yourself! ;). I wish I could draw that good.
ReplyDeleteNot going, yet another cool thing I have to miss due to this work and responsibilities thing. Too bad, my husband is a Star Wars fanatic. I'm also more in Trek, and I agree, lack of awesome trek art, but there is some and it's being featured on the blog today!

Girls Are Geeks
So jealous, and so sad that I can't go this year. *sniff* I will just have to live vicariously through you. *whine*
ReplyDeleteI'm just pissed because the one year I went was the year Lucas couldn't because they were on location for Crystal Skull. Now I can't go, and he's there. Dammit! DAMMMITTTT!!! *sob*
I just have to say that I never really thought I was very geeky but I am loving this new blog of yours! I'm geeky enough to get all of the Star Wars and Star Trek references and some of the rest but I've enjoyed all of your posts! Keep it up! And thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo after introducing my 2 1/2 year old to episode 4,5, and 6 last weekend...I totally appreciate the baby wookie....he's adorable!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I also love the costumes at conventions!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlas - FL is too far for us...
I look forward to your photos! :)
*Squeal* He's so adorable! I just want to pick him up and cuddle him forever and ever. :P Where do you find all this cute stuff?
ReplyDeleteWe're going to be there too! :) I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I love that Chewie!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop staring at that little Chewie and grinning like an idiot. TOO CUTE!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this little bit of joy into my day.
ReplyDeleteHey Jen,
ReplyDeleteI found a little fact out that made me think of you.
At the age of 8, Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) began performing in a local community theater in Boston. Later, when he moved to Los Angeles, he joined a Yiddish theater group.
You may have already known that, but anyway...made me think of you.
Okay, forget the baby sloths and otters...I want a Baby Chewbaca now!!! Too freakin cute for words! =D
ReplyDeleteAnd now I am wishing I was at Comic-Con in San Diego instead of at work...sigh. Maybe I'll make it next year!! =)
I still like the Baby Boba Fett better... but this is pretty darn sweet. I think it's just because I'm trying not to imagine how hard it would be to change Baby Chewbacca's diaper.
ReplyDeleteI wish that I was going to be able to make it to Celebration this year. :/ But unfortunately I won't because I will be attempting to finish packing so I can move back to Orlando two weeks later. Can't wait to see the pictures though.
ReplyDeleteThose are all fabulous! I was sent your way by Gina at "Fantasy Casting" and "Ensuring Domestic Tranquility". I'm so glad she did. I've found a haven in which to nurture my inner geekgirl!
ReplyDeleteSoooooo adorable!!! That baby chewy just became my new desktop!
ReplyDeleteSome other cool Star Wars fanart:
ReplyDeleteStar Wars characters + Feudal Japan =
Samurai Wars!
Star Wars characters + Kitschy souvenir plates = If your Grandmother was a Star Wars fan
Those are aweseome! Eep! Baby Chewie is adorable! I wanted to go to Celebration V this year, but I can't. :( I will definitely be checking EPBOT for pictures and stoies, though!
ReplyDeleteI refrained from squeeing only because I was sitting at my desk at work...I did send a copy of the post to friends and sqeeeeeeed silently. I'm still grinning too. :D
ReplyDelete*I* will not be at cV because I am heavily pregnant, but my husband and his R2 will be... Look for the yellow and white one with the cute operator, we are big fans of your blogs!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I think it's totally acceptable to not have watched the animated stuff. Also the three newer movies. It may be preferable actually IMHO.
ReplyDeleteJen don't feel bad about not seeing the animated stuff. I'm a big Star Wars geek and utterly refused to watch it for one reason - they made Ewan McGregor ugly! That is just wrong! Oh, and also because I think Anakin is a whiny little snot.
ReplyDeleteI will not be at Celebration V, but I will be at the Last Tour to Endor party on the 14th that is at Disney's Hollywood Studios in conjunction with Celebration V that is a separate ticketed event in the evening. It's because Star Tours is going down for renovations like 3 weeks later so you can be "the first of the last" to ride it. The tickets are quite pricey but it's my boyfriend's birthday/last hurrah before a 6 month deployment to the Middle East. I'm going as Padme in her white battle costume and my boyfriend is going as a cross between Prequel-Obi-Wan and Prequel-Anakin and my sister is going as a "sexy Stormtrooper", whatever that is. I'm about halfway done with the costumes and it's our first time dressing up as Star Wars characters (we've done HP, and I've done LotR) and we are ridiculously excited. Though they don't have a CM or military discount, which is lame.
