And Now, A Styrofoam Velociraptor In Pajama Pants

I'm pretty neutral on the subject of Valentine's Day. I mean, I'm always pro candy and flowers, but then again the whole world going gaga for generic heart jewelry does make me feel a bit stabby.

Since I'm also not much of a burlap bunting person, and I don't have any kids to craft ridiculously complex Valentines for, I figured I just wouldn't have anything to share with you guys for the big VD*.

[*You know you want to call it that from now on. Go on. DO EEET.]

But, as luck would have it, John and I are in the middle of a complicated new project that's producing some, well, interesting by-products. So yesterday while John was out fetching lunch, I decided to express my love the best way I knew how:

It's a testament to how long John's been with me that he reacted with a completely sincere and unironic "Awwwww."

Happy Big VD, guys.

  3. Seriously, what is with people and burlap?! And for the record, my daughter's valentines consist of a Hershey Hug taped to the top of a mini Playdoh container. No cutesy, punny wrapper or anything.

  4. This is why you and I should be neighbors and best friends.

  13. Now this is what true love is all about: being weird with each other without feeling like it's weird.
I am a little curious as to what prompted the Styrofoam velociraptor in pajama pants though...

  14. If you're not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, you could always observe the Feast of St. Markdown on the 15th instead?
I'm also very curious to see the outcome of this styrofoam velociraptor.

  15. Actually, come to think of it, that looks more like the battle headdresses that Apophis' guards wore in Stargate. :-D

  16. What I did for Valentine's Day? Texted random people saying: Hey, I know you're a stranger and all, but Happy Valentine's Day!"

  17. Wanted to take a moment to say how much my hubby and I appreciate your blog! Thanks for providing such an awesome corner of the internet where we can both enjoy your geekery. We don't have many married friends who appreciate sci-fi in quite the manner we do, so we often end up saying things to each other like, "Well, Jen and John from Epbot would have understood and thought that was funny." You've been household names in our geeky abode for years now. Thanks for letting us virtually hang out with another geeky couple!

  19. Completely off topic, but do you play tabletop games, like Dungeons and Dragons or Magic the Gathering? I'm crazy about both, but sadly I live too far away to play with you. I just wonder if it's another fandom we have in common.

  20. Thank you for posting something, anything. I'm having a bad time right now with my home situation and had an anxiety attack, this has helped to distract me.

  21. So strangely enough, I want one. A plushy one (with arms). And that is all.
