Saturday Steam: Invention of Love
Saturday, October 1, 2011
This almost-silent art film is filled with stunning imagery, although I should warn you it has a sad ending:
I was especially impressed with the cityscapes and the mechanical butterfly. You?
I've seen this a few times over the past year, but thanks to Sara P. for reminding me of it!

That is rather sad... but very pretty, as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting it up! The butterfly is pretty fantastic, but I would do some pretty bad things for the upside-down music box.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but you'd get a giant kick out of "The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello." It's dark and steamy and darkly steampunky, and just all around awesome. I found it on the "2006 Best Animated Shorts Nominations" dvd that the Oscars put out to assure the world the category actually has films in it.
it was so beautiful that it gave me goosebumps... thanks for sharing Jen <3
ReplyDeleteThat was incredibly beautiful. I also loved the cityscapes, but the horse was my favourite. The story was touching and, as you said, the ending sad. Did I mention incredibly beautiful yet?
ReplyDeleteWow! That was amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful! And sad, but a very nice meaning. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI agree the mechanical butterfly was amazing! This girl has talent for telling a visual story.
ReplyDeleteLovely visuals, indeed! Thanks for the link. :)

ReplyDeletenot related to the vid, but it reminded me of the awesome clothes on this website. They have cool home decor too- bonus!
I heart the horse :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for that! Somehow it reminds me of the anime "Angel's Egg."
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo very Russian...
ReplyDeleteAck. I was thinking "don't watch it, it will make you depressed, don't watch it." I watched it.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go cry myself to sleep now.
Wow. This is very well done and so sad. Thanks for sharing. I posted on my FB wall! I will go back to watch again!
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely, visually and musically. The horse wins it for me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the first song in this...any idea where to find it? I would love to download it!
