The glue will only stick to itself, which is pretty awesome. To keep it even, I'd use a spray-primer; otherwise anywhere you overlap with a brush-on coat will be darker. I am looking to make something similar, but wanted to know when using the primer, does the color still show through after one coat? If not, would any other primer be recommended so some of the color shows through? I am looking to make this to look like the pastel marshmallows, so I want some of the color to show through as they are pretty bright now. Your input would be most appreciated. We are having our 50th anniversary of a non-profit Outstanding Young Women's program and have decided that we are keeping the decorations "simple and elegant" and of course we are on a DEADLINE - ugh! We decided to build some columns and Laura found this page - TOTALLY AWESOME! we have gathered our supplies and are ready to build. B/c we are on a budget and ask for donations - we are using 5-gallon mud buckets for bases and pizza boxes for the top. ;) we used the 2-coats of contact cement as instructed (i think) and when we started to assemble the noodles will not stick to the tube. any idea? were we suppose to let the second coat dry completely or should it have been tacky? TX TONS for any assistance - we REALLY appreciate it!
