You should be able to do something similar with the outlet: run the power up to a new box inside the wall, then have the exposed wires pop out from the new box. That said, as always I'd recommend consulting and/or hiring an electrician, just to be safe.Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11888187687405622408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724594058209899258.post-28879053246204949432019-01-14T11:36:11.593-05:002019-01-14T11:36:11.593-05:00How do you have these wired up to the electric? I'm looking to do some stained glass wall sconces and like the idea of the wiring being outside of the wall like this. I'm thinking of just using an outlet and putting an inline antique light switch on the wall, but not certain how I want to do it yet.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03806353710709814218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724594058209899258.post-758427926538040102016-02-05T11:52:20.581-05:002016-02-05T11:52:20.581-05:00I'm working on steampunking a house right now,...I'm working on steampunking a house right now, and I have a junction box on the side of my craftroom wall that I don't just want to cover, but I had NO idea what to do with it. I did see a smaller one https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/8310/CAGE-SG200.html but it might be a bit short with the longer Edison bulbs. <br />On the fancy Edison bulbs themselves they are quite inefficient. Less than half the normal lumens of light output for a similar wattage. The real irony is one of the main manufacturers, Feit, also have an awesome line of LED bulbs/fixtures. But for steampunk the long filament bulbs are the bomb.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724594058209899258.post-787285783635641272015-02-18T13:37:57.533-05:002015-02-18T13:37:57.533-05:00Can I come live in your steampunk room? I've been drooling over it for a while, and want to do this with the office I've always wanted. I'll have to wait until after my two eldest children go off to college, though. One comment to potentially help with your "night light effect": They used to use brass mirrors behind candles to reflect light out into the room. Maybe it could help here? Supposedly, it doubled the amount of light coming off the candles, so it may help with the Edison bulbs.Jedijsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02121643617796118971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1724594058209899258.post-20206941996695006032015-02-16T08:54:49.721-05:002015-02-16T08:54:49.721-05:00It's looking fantastic!
