Jen's Gems: Pandora Eye Candy, Sparkle Purses, & An Exploding Teacup Chandelier

I have more favorite internet finds for you!

Shemayne of Lemon Drop Cosplay, creator of that Transforming Droid skirt I featured in my last Celebration roundup, also made a Transforming DRESS - and wow wow WOW:

I can't believe this hasn't gone viral yet. SO COOL.

Steampunk Tendencies featured an incredible chandelier last week:

It's by Ingo Maurer, a German lighting designer. Naturally I went poking around his other designs, and it seems his most popular motif are these nifty winged lightbulbs:

It looks like they cost $360 online, but you guys, we could so make this.

If you're digging Toddler Grandma Style as much as I am, and you want more inspiration - or just to follow the most delightfully colorful person on the planet - then go follow Team Sparkle:

I don't even know her name, but this woman is amazing. She loves Disney and rainbows and quirky novelty purses, and her photos just make me happy, you know?

Plus she seriously makes me want to wear more color. Fearless joy, you guys. That's her.

She doesn't just post outfit photos - there's also lots of Disney and architecture and sweets - but it's all technicolor, all fabulous. Go see.

And while I'm giving you eye candy accounts to follow, if you love Disney, then definitely follow WDW Shutterbug.

His Pandora photos are the stuff that dreams are made of.

Plus he posts interactive 360 degree photos from around the parks, like this one in the Haunted Mansion queue:

(Not sure that will work with this embed, so if you can't move the photo around with your mouse, then you'll have to click through to his FB post for the full effect. Totally worth it, though; if you're viewing on your phone, it moves when you do!)

And finally, since John doesn't have a cute find of the week for us (slacker!), instead here's a picture from last night of Lily snuggling with him:

That's my whole heart in one picture, y'all. (With a bonus Toothless photobomb, ha.)
Fingers crossed the medicine works fast and we can get our little furball nekkid again.

Happy weekend! I'm about to go thrift store shopping, and then maybe play a little more Overwatch tonight. You know, for "research." (PEW PEW!!) What are you guys up to?

  1. We had the same overgrooming issues with our cat Jack. This cured him when nothing else did (things felt so hopeless!): http://www.vetrespit.com/

After a course of treatment, he made a full recovery and has never had issues again.

  2. Aww poor baby. Hope she feels better soon. I will absolutely have to follow both of those :)

  3. Probably taking the kids to Chuck E Cheese tonight. My name is Lauren, I'm a foster mom who follows you pretty silently, loving all the projects and wittiness from afar... I don't have the time to do many projects myself. But I wish I did. So you all are the project people I wish I could be. I love your blogs! So fun! But we did do something fun this afternoon! We skyped with a friend in Texas who's playing D&D and has a DM that is awful! So we discussed for about 2 hours how to go "Old Man Henderson" (very funny story of a D&D campaign, look up if you like, but fair warning... language is foul) on the game master. Much D&D hilarity ensued... including sharing the story of "Eric and the Dread Gazebo" and introducing her to the Web comics "Darths and Droids" and "DM of the Rings". So, after a geeky, wonderful Saturday afternoon, we'll go ahead and do something fun for the kids. Also, I remember reading that you two used to be painters.... do you have any contacts/ recommendations in or near Palm Bay FL. Do any of the readers? Thanks!

  6. I look forward to seeing your flying-lightbulb tutorial soon!
What am I up to? Hopefully finishing making some pajama pants for myself. They are brightly colored and patterned too! (Not a color that goes with my skintone at all, so I wouldn't put it near my face, but so glad I found a way to wear it.)

  7. If you like team sparkle look up ChrissaSparkles on Instagram. So much pastel and disney!! I'm pretty sure she is friends with the woman you posted. I found her because she is friends with Max aka MrCheezyPop (a huge dizgeek). She and her husband had the most amazing pastel/geeky/nostalgia wedding.

  9. Oh, hey, I didn't know you were playing Overwatch now too! I just started, myself. Would you ever be willing to group up and play with a fan some time?

  10. I also have a kitty that needs onsie time. We have deep windowsills at our house so Amber suns a lot of the day. Because of this I'm sure we are the talk of the neighborhood. We are THOSE people who dress their cat.

  11. Poor Lily! I have got to thank you for your post on how to make an anti-grooming onesie. I haven't actually made it yet, but I got a hideous onesie from a friend and every time my cat starts to really over-groom I bring it out and remind her that I *will* make her wear it if she doesn't lay off the licking. So far that's worked (because the licking is a mind-thing, not an immune-system-thing).

  12. Are you playing Overwatch on PC or console? I'm Guenever if you ever wanna group with us!

  13. Wow, those lights! I think Lily looks marvelous in her onesie :) - and because your comments are closed on your next post, Jen... I just wanted to say I totally agree with you about Wonder Woman's CGI 4 inch heels! Ridiculous and completely sexist!!! When do you see a man running in 4 in heels - never! (And mini-rant about CGI specifically - her heels didn't even look real! So much CGI is very noticeably fake, and it is a big turn-off for me! If CGI is really well done, it can be good, but so often it's flat or fuzzy or the color is wrong or.... mini-rant over...)

  14. I'm a bit late to the party but wondered if you'd listened to this podcast about cosplay? It's nothing too in depth but it's quite interesting (and only 30 minutes).

  15. I just came from your archives, May 7, 2014 to be exact, to see how Lily was doing. I'm sorry she's still overgrooming but I'm so glad to hear she's still with you, and enjoying some quality time with your adorable husband.
