Eat Your Heart Out, Sorting Hat

John's been making custom Hogwarts House banners for group members over on Fans of Epbot the past several days, and now we've brainstormed enough funny ones that I think they have to be shared.

Each graphic is a transparent .png, so just download your favorite and use any image program to layer it over your profile picture. We made 3 options for each House:

Which is your favorite? Mine's "Obviously." Ha! And if you have suggestions for more tag lines, feel free to share them in the comments. (These are actually really fun to come up with.) I'm sure if you make John laugh hard enough, he'll make more.

Oh, and since I'm married to John, I get my own CUSTOM custom House banner to go with my Monty Python-themed profile pic:

AW YEAH MARRIAGE PERKS.

  21. Love the "the book was better" and "plans are for wimps". No, plans are for living (for all the 0 times they actually work).

  22. Oh, so awesome! (Both you and the .pngs!)

  23. I'm Slytherin, and that "Obviously" one is absolutely perfect! Thank you for sharing these!

  24. Bwahaha...Pottermore keeps sorting me into Gryffindor, but I still think I'm more Ravenclaw. And that "The book was better" one just proves it!

  25. Is it too Ravenclaw to mention that the question mark goes outside the quotation marks in the second one?

    1. It depends if you're using British English or American English. I think. Most likely. Probably.

      Delete
    2. I only edit in American English, so... *shrug*

    3. Okay, so this made me go look it up, because I wasn't sure, and I've figured out why. The US vs UK inside vs outside is true for periods/full stops. Otherwise, other punctuation goes inside the quotation mark if it's part of the quote, and outside if not. So, John...I have to go with Arthemise on this one. https://www.grammarly.com/answers/questions/4726-quotation-marks-and-other-punctuation-inside-or-outside/

    4. Hey, I will gladly change it. I'm all in favor of logical punctuation. But I guarantee someone will complain. In the famous words of Abraham Lincoln:,;"Grammar is stupid, isn't it?".!

  26. The book was better is my favorite. It's so Ravenclaw. And although I do agree with Arthemise regarding the "?, it's okay, john (the hubby of Jen) we Hufflepuffs still love you. :) Here's my suggestions for Hufflepuff: #selflove, You're welcome., We have toast.

  27. I love these. I totally went and updated my profile pic with a Ravenclaw frame.

  28. I'm thinking of Ravenclaw: Another word for genius

  29. I'm Hufflepuff, but I like Ravenclaw's "The Book Was Better" so I'm taking that one. Until John comes up with some more!

  30. *giggles* Ever since YOU (yes. it should sound a bit like an accusation!) shared the Very Potter Musical all I can hear in my head is "Hufflepuffs are particularly good finders!"

  32. Poor Puffs. I know you're trying to be funny, but "The Rest." Is just kind of mean. Hufflepuffs aren't the leftovers. They're the loyal ones. The patient and hardworking ones. The ones who value friendship over bravery, or intelligence, or ambition. They're the peacekeepers. Hufflepuffs are the ones who'll stay up all night drinking tea with you just to make you feel better. It just feels like you didn't try as hard for the Puffs on this.

The rest are amazing though. And I'm totally using "The book was better." <3

    1. Hi Carrie! I'm the proudest Hufflepuff there is and will gladly tell you why we're the best house. That said, "The rest" is a quote from the book where all the other founders are saying which amazing students they'll take and Helga Hufflepuff says, "...and I'll take the rest!" I don't think "the rest" is a bad thing. Personally, I think "D. All of the above." is the best in describing us because the sorting hat knows we have attributes of all the houses and doesn't want to define us. All that to say if you have some other clever ideas, I'd be more than happy to add them. -john

  34. I love these! I love them a lot. I'm a Gryffindor and my dog is a Slytherin per the Pottermore quiz and I really want to use these. XD

  35. I don't Harry Potter so I don't have anything funny to add. Would be fun to know what a Raverin would say. (I have taken many, many, many, sorting quizzes. The Pottermore says Slytherin while most of the other say Ravenclaw. The one that is the hybrid one said Raverin so I go with that when I'm asked and have nothing else to add to the Potter conversation.)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh I REALLY like yours! In fact, I think if you could talk John into them I'd love to see more crossovers. Raverin's good, Slytherdor? Huffledore? Raverdore? Ravenpuff? Slytherpuff?? Slytherclaw?
